In the lastest trailer for Infinity War released by Marvel Studios, we can see Thanos arriving in Wakanda with at least 4 infinity stones on his hand. It's difficult to see if the time gem is on the thumb, but this does reveal some significant information about the plot, and confirms they were CGI'd off the gauntlet in previous trailer footage. Everyone be warned, there has been CGI altering happening in trailer footage.
It's not 100% clear if Marvel intended to reveal this much information in the new trailer. There are two different cuts, one where you can see the infinity stones and one where you can't. So it is possible that they never intended to show his nearly completed gauntlet, and that the shot accidentally made it into the 2nd cut. The scene where Captain America is holding back Thanos hand, we had previously only seen the power and space stones in the trailers. But we know when that Cap scene is in the movie, there will be at least 4 stones on the gauntlet
Personally I think the new trailer is too much information. It's fine to show an extra joke here or there, but this is revealing important plot information that will allow movie theorists to piece together exactly what's going to happen leading up to the battle in Wakanda. If this was done by accident then I am willing to forgive Marvel Studios, but if done as a deliberate decision, that was the wrong decision. It feels like movies revealing too much information in the trailers has become more commonplace.
There is a possibility that there is deception taking place. I have long believed that they would use CGI to remove gems from the gauntlet in preview footage, but they would not do CGI alterations to add them. If they are showing him as having the soul stone at a moment in the movie when he does not yet have it, that would be lying rather than hiding, deception instead of misdirection. For this reason, I'm now 99% convinced that Thanos will have 4 stones when he gets to Earth.
