Why Star Wars Needs The Rock

The world of the Star Wars fandom has been greatly divided ever since the release of The Last Jedi. While some praised the film for its subversion of expectations, some radical extremist saw it as disrespecting beloved characters that the Star Wars universe is known for. There was hope and optimism that JJ Abrams would be able to salvage the damaged franchise and bring a sense of communal appreciation among generations of fans with the release of the Rise of Skywalker.

The new movie, which was supposed to deliver a satisfying end to the Skywalker saga, only divided the fan-base further. Abrams attempt to "undo" the damage Rian Johnson had done created plot problems that didn't make sense given what was in the previous two movies. A film intended to unite fans only created more chaos, as the franchise takes a hiatus until 2022. This has cast darkness and doubt as to the future of Star Wars.

As we prepare for the next phase of the SWCU, it's now more important than ever to bring unity to the fan-base. We desperately need a unifying force, a new hope, that is universally beloved with unparalleled charisma and strength. The best person that they could possibly cast as the main protagonist to accomplish this goal is The Rock. Dwayne Johnson has shown a remarkable ability to unite people of all walks of life with his continual domination of the global box office. We need him to recapture the devotion of fans.

The Rock has all the traits needed to portray a main character in Star Wars. If the next Star Wars trilogy follows the training of an unbeknownst Padawan, it would be interesting to see the Jedi order travel to a planet where the inhabitants are all enhanced human beings who wish to join the republic. In fact, The Rock's character may not even need the training of the Jedi to utilize the full power of the Force. In real life, there's a good chance that The Rock may even all ready know how to use the force.

Now I'm not saying that The Rock uses Jedi mind tricks to compel everybody to travel to theaters to see his movies, but rather people are seeing them because of a deep desire to watch an inspirational hero who personifies all the goodness of humanity. This makes people feel better about themselves and believe in the mysticism of the human race once again. Just like Yoda says in the Empire Strikes Back, "the force surrounds us, and binds us." Is there a stronger unifying force in the galaxy than The Rock? The answer is no.

Let's say that The Rock is cast as an optimistic hero who has yet to discovered his full potential. This over-arching story line is very reflective of the real-life journey of The Rock. How awesome would it be to see The Rock doing his signature intense smoldering while looking at two suns? It's very reflective of Luke Skywalker and would offer a moment of reflection for Star Wars fans.

Star Wars has a plethora of inspirational heroes. So why not cast a real life international super star to further inspire the next generation of Star Wars fans?
