Cinema Analytica’s 2022 Movie/Streaming Awards

2022 was interesting year for the industry recovering from the pandemic. We can can now enjoy movies the way they were meant to seen on the big screen. 2022 was also the year where comic movies are either being constantly rebooted or not earning the same fan and critical reception as in previous years. Granted there were some hits such as the Batman and Moonknight but other shows and movies/shows didn’t quite hit the mark. James Gun taking over DC studios is surely to be an intriguing time for comic movies going forward.

The Oscars are no longer an accurate representation of popular culture. Humanity needs more awards to accurately reflect what people actually like to watch. Every year at Oscar time, we post our own movie awards from the year before (we still need time to see every movie from 2023 before we can choose winners). We expanded to include streaming shows (specifically Marvel and Star Wars) in 2020 because there wasn’t enough movies to fill the categories, and will continue doing so. Unfortunately we can’t see everything because we don’t subscribe to every service.

So here are the Cinema Analytica 2022 Movie/Streaming Awards!

23 Movie/Streaming Predictions for 2023

If you want to know what’s going to happen in movies and streaming in 2023, then you have come to the right place. Our primary focus tends to be on Disney properties Marvel and Star Wars, but we do also venture out into the mainstream.  The pandemic in 2020 threw us a curveball because so many projects were delayed, which happened again in 2021, and even 2022. We’re trying to make predictions that will occur in the next 365 days, so if a film gets delayed until 2024, then it didn’t happen when we said it would happen. That’s a loss.

Some of our past predictions have been brilliant, but others not so much. Our hope is that the pandemic won't screw with the movie industry any more. One of our predictions that did not come true in 2020 was that it would be announced that Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine. BUT, that did happen in 2022. The whole reasoning behind that prediction was that Disney bought the studio that owned the rights to X-Men, so it seemed logical they might offer Hugh a bigger pile money than Fox was willing to pay.

This list probably warrants a spoiler alert, since some of these things will actually happen (we’re hoping all of them). So if you don’t want to know the future before it happens, then perhaps you should stop here. If you include those that missed the cut, there are more than 50 total predictions. If you'd like to view last year's list, click here.
